Reason for quietness

I’m working on something which will hopefully be popular, and boost views to this site. It will hopefully be funny, and sorta plagiarising some stuff I’ve seen on the net. Hence the quietness.

Ok, I’m adding a new category of websites; lolz. Rather than meaningful blogs, these will be slightly random, but amusing websites. The links will be on the left.

Short update

Ok, its been a bit quiet on EG for a while, but for good reasons. Firstly, I haven’t bought a new game for ages, so there’s little for me to write about. I’d rather have few posts of good quality, accurate games journalism rather than spamming my blog with crap about games that nobody plays.

Speaking of games nobody plays, I installed Thief: Deadly Shadows on my 2nd PC, because it refuses to work with my main PC, so expect a few posts on that.

In other news, I intend to pitch a few more articles to the Escapist, because their new editorial calendar is out, and quite a few issues have caught my interest.

Finally, I’m considering a change of banner, because this one is getting old. Opinions please.

Slight change

If you direct your eyes to the header above this text, you may notice I changed the image. It’s gone from the gleaming sci-fi dystopia of Mirror’s Edge to the ominous hand of the Illuminati in Deus Ex. I think I prefer this one much more, as it also ties in with the whole philosophy/politics slant of this blog, whereas the last one felt kinda irrelevant. Anyway, if you had no idea what Mirror’s Edge is, it’s a game about free-running (the activity of running through a city), while I will soon do a post on Deus Ex.

Epically awesome blogs

So… I seem to have started a trend. Tons of people I know are setting up blogs, so I thought I might direct you to the best ones.

We have Artificial Sweetener, a blog which has great writing and is by a friend,

There’s Vicinity of Obscenity, Or Thoughts Of a Dying Atheist, another incredibly well written blog with some fantastic philosophy.

And finally we have Bearded Gentleman, a blog written by the brother of one of my close friends, with possibly the best widget ever.

Oh, and I should mention peterd102, but he’s always been on the blogroll, and a great source of everyday philosophy.

J-Man

J-Man, or Joe to non-gamers, is the writer of this blog, and is also wondering why this sentence is in the third person. I’m a student living in London, and a games and film fanatic in my spare time. I’ve had 3 blogs in the past, 1 of which I deleted due to inactivity, another because it was crap, and my latest because the guy I was co-writing it with was a jerk.

Anyway, the reason this blog is called what it’s called is for 3 reasons:

• It sounds cool.
• Existentialism is my favourite form of philosophy
• It helps to ward off l337 speakers, who don’t know how to spell

I would write some more, but frankly it’s part of my ploy to keep you hooked on this blog. Speaking of this blog, it’ll mainly be a collection of thoughts on games and films, with the odd contributions from friends. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy the ride.
